Champagne

The esteemed House of Ruinart was established on 1st September 1729 by Nicolas Ruinart. His uncle, the erudite Benedictine monk Dom Thierry Ruinart, possessed a stroke of genius, foreseeing a splendid future for this nascent 'sparkling wine' – a creation of his native Champagne region, already captivating European royal courts.

The genesis of Maison Ruinart coincided with the dawn of the Enlightenment in France and the flourishing of the French 'art de vivre'. This era saw the emergence of a profound culture of appreciating the good and the beautiful, favouring a refined and elegant taste – light, sophisticated, delicate, and rare. Naturally, Ruinart's cuvées found their rightful place within this burgeoning ethos.

Maison Ruinart has long cultivated a distinguished relationship with the art world. As early as 1896, André Ruinart commissioned Alfons Mucha, the foremost illustrator of his time, to create an advertisement whose modernity caused a sensation. Today, the House's commitment to the arts is eloquently expressed through numerous artistic collaborations.

Driven by an unceasing quest for excellence, the House has judiciously chosen Chardonnay – a rare and delicate grape variety – as the guiding thread that weaves through all of its exquisite cuvées.
