Since its inception in 1743, Moët & Chandon has passed down an unrivalled winemaking expertise and a pioneering, innovative spirit from one generation to the next.
Claude Moët, the founder, was the first to embody these values, elevating his champagne to become one of Europe's most coveted. With his grandson, Jean Remy Moët, a visionary and pioneering spirit, Moët & Chandon would evolve into a pre-eminent international champagne marque. This grand narrative swiftly transformed the family House into a global emblem of success.
The 1,190 hectares of rich chalky soil, 50% of which are classified as Grand Crus and 25% as Premier Crus, constitute the largest vineyard in Champagne. Below ground, the cellars of Moët & Chandon are the region's most extensive. Stretching for over 28 kilometres, they form a labyrinthine network where the wine undergoes its metamorphosis under optimal conditions of temperature and humidity.
