Established in 1815, the Ardbeg distillery takes immense pride in crafting the finest single malt from the Isle of Islay. Revered by connoisseurs worldwide for its distinctly peaty flavour profile and smoky undertones, Ardbeg whisky is nonetheless equally celebrated for its remarkable smoothness – a phenomenon affectionately dubbed the “peaty paradox”.
A singular taste born from a tumultuous history – punctuated by periods of operational cessation – until the distillery's acquisition in 1997 by Glenmorangie. Since then, Ardbeg has firmly re-established its strong position within a niche market, centred around a single malt of considerable renown.
In 2000, the House founded the “Ardbeg Committee”, initially comprising a few thousand devoted enthusiasts. Today, this esteemed committee boasts over 100,000 members across 140 countries worldwide, all poised to champion the distillery's legacy.
Ardbeg’s single malt has garnered numerous accolades. Proclaimed “Scotch Whisky of the Year” for three consecutive years by the esteemed expert Jim Murray, it was also crowned “World’s Best Single Malt” and “Best Islay Single Malt” at the World Whisky Awards in both 2013 and 2014.
