In 1814, Jean-Joseph Moreau, a young cooper, married the daughter of a vigneron, thereby inheriting Chablis' oldest wine house. Driven by a profound passion for the vine and a deep respect for traditional values, he expertly managed the estate, swiftly ascending to become one of Chablis' most significant producers. He was a true pioneer in the region, and his success grew exponentially.
Over the years, J. Moreau & Fils established a formidable presence in the international market, becoming a highly esteemed and globally celebrated House.
Since 1814, J. Moreau & Fils has embraced the challenge of the Chablis terroir, striving to elevate the distinctive expression of its sole grape, Chardonnay, and to unveil its signature: that of complex and elegantly crafted fine white wines.
